How it works, start to finish
The honest version, including the slow part at the end that nobody controls.
1. Three questions to set things up
Who it's for, and which type of LPA. That's it. No payment, no account, no card details. Then you go straight into the real questions.
2. The questionnaire, free
One question per screen, written in ordinary English. Where the official form uses phrases like "jointly and severally", we ask instead: should either of them be able to act alone, or must they always agree? Your answers save automatically, so you can stop at a hard question and come back tomorrow.
The questions won't let contradictory or invalid answers through. That's the point of us: the mistakes that get applications rejected can't make it onto the paper.
3. Your price, then payment
When every question is answered, your full price appears: our fee and the government's £92 registration fee per LPA, shown separately and added up. Nothing hidden, nothing added later. You pay then, and only then.
4. The summary
Before anything is printed, every decision is played back in plain sentences: who can act, when, and how. You confirm it, or jump straight back to the question that needs changing.
5. The pack arrives
Within 48 hours of your approval we post the completed official forms with a one-page signing guide, coloured tabs on every signature line, and a pre-addressed envelope for the Office of the Public Guardian with the registration fee stated clearly. The order people sign in matters legally; the guide makes it as close to foolproof as paper can be.
6. Posting it to the Office of the Public Guardian
Once everyone has signed, you post the application in the pre-addressed envelope. Then press the button on your status page so we know it's on its way. That moment starts the registration clock, and our updates follow it from there.
7. The wait
Registration takes around 20 weeks at the Office of the Public Guardian. That timescale is theirs, it applies to every application from everyone, and no one can shorten it. What we do instead: a status page that always tells the truth, and emails through the quiet stretch so silence never means something is wrong.
Answer the questions free, see your full price at the end, and pay nothing until you're sure.
